Why YOU should consider becoming a member of the BCGA!
BCGA membership is about balancing CAMARADERIE (making friends and having FUN!) with COMMUNITY involvement through EDUCATION and outreach projects. Read on for more info about what we do and more reasons why you should consider joining the Bonner County Gardeners Association!
- Our annual membership course in cooperation with the University of Idaho’s Master Gardeners trains prospective BCGA members in research-based gardening practices, equipping them to promote good gardening practices in the community.
- The volunteer work of our members is visible at many public spaces, including the fairgrounds, the Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce and Farmin Park. BCGA volunteers also facilitate a number of area school gardens, working with teachers and students to encourage hands on learning.
- Each of our qualified volunteers have undergone a minimum amount of university-based (or equivalent) training and are an excellent source of gardening know-how! Members also get access to an extensive members-only online Resource Library. (Check out our Public Resource Library for a small sample of what is available).
- Our members provide volunteer leadership and educational service in home gardening to the general public through our spring and fall Home Horticulture (aka Home Hort) series covering a variety of gardening subjects.
If you have a passion for gardening and helping people, we’d love for you to join us! Learn how to join and sign up to be notified of the next available membership class!
